Has anyone else been to Queensland Transport at Southport recently? I had to go there last week to drop a medical certificate in. The place has next to no air conditioning so you sweat it out waiting for your number to be called, more people are coming in and it’s nearly cooler outside.

I read the article re bus services on Northern Gold Coast, I live near david flays nature park, which is just over 1 kilometre west of burleigh, we get 1 bus an hour IF we are lucky. This morning (3/2/23) the bus was cancelled without any warning, surely it’s not to much to get the one bus an hour to be guaranteed , or am I expecting too much. Rogerinburleigh.

Yep only on the Gold Coast will the council fine you $700 for planting and looking after your nature strip. It’s not your land but they expect you to look after it but not too much. Bloody hypocrisy. GN

Lots of rain. Long grass in all the parks. Council is trying to mow but maybe we need the old Work for the Dole system to return. Those with no jobs who are on benefits could be used to tame the parks. Diz.

It’s hypocritical in the extreme of council to complain about City Plan reforms that would have reduced high rise towers having to be put on hold. Council has approved plenty of development applications with uplifts in height and density levels. Oh! I forgot. There’s an election coming up.

Watch councillors who have supported increased height and density approvals for apartment towers change their tunes as the election nears.

We are all suffering increasing insurance cost due to all the juvenile crime and lack of accountability. It’s not just insurance costs but inconvenience and other costs to get life back to normal. The kids get a slap on the wrist and are out to do it again next weekend. No penalty and cost to them or their parents.

Fuel is part of the cost in just about everything we have. Food, appliances, clothing and transport. The cost of living is not going to change unless the government does something about their double dipping. Barney

An interesting suggestion for 2 car families (chatroom 31/01). One EV for around city and an internal combustion engine for longer out of town. Government initiatives point toward only having EV’s. Suggestions for one car families when you need to charge in the middle of nowhere?
