Kylie’s double delight with new gong

-

It may have been 20 years in the making, but Aussie pop Princess Kylie Minogue can now call herself a dual-Grammy winner.

Minogue appeared shocked to learn her catchy hit Padam Padam took out the inaugural Best Pop Dance Recording – beating David Guetta, Calvin Harris and fellow Aussie Troye Sivan.

Minogue did not attend the pre-ceremony, with music producer and co-writer Peter Rycroft instead accepting the award on her behalf.

It was the much-loved star’s second Grammy, after she won Best Dance Recording in 2004 with her hit Come Into My World.

“She is such a powerhouse, she recorded her own vocals in her hotel room and sent me the project – she is very hands-on and very collaborative,” Rycroft said of Minogue, 55.

Minogue's joy was apparent in an ecstatic Instagram post that featured a video of the singer screaming with excitement when she was told of the award win.

The video showed her in a bathrobe as she got ready for the awards.

When told by an assistant that was now a “two-time Grammy winner”, Minogue screamed and jumped for joy as she ran around her hotel room and clapped her hands in delight.

“Oh where do I go?, Yesssssssss,” she screamed in delight.

Minogue made a glamorous appearance on the read carpet dressed in a jaw-dropping red gown, perhaps a nod to the music video’s signature.

“I’m very curious, I’m driven,” she said when asked what has inspired her in her almost 40-year career.

“If you are open to it and are willing to look and feel, there’s inspiration everywhere.”

Minogue recently received Billboard’s Women in Music Icon award, and in November last year, won best pop release at the ARIAS.
