Sometimes when I read contributi­ons to Text The Editor, including my own, complainin­g about this or that inequity, the prayer “Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change” comes to mind.

I read the Chatroom most days, and I contribute as well. I wonder where all the hate speech and bad language are coming from. Please let people have their say. You don’t have to agree, but at least be civil in your reply. Sarge RB

I don’t think too many of Taylor Swift’s songs will be played by symphony orchestras or be covered by too many other artists.

Everyone to their own taste. Taylor Swift has achieved phenomenal worldwide success singing songs with lyrics that touch a chord with young fans. As remarkable as her success is, the reality is her songs and voice are not in the class of the Beatles, Bee Gees, Ed Sheeran, Queen and a host of other artists.

What I do not understand about all the banter about the Olympics is the fact that the people who pay for it all were never asked in the first place does anyone want them here in Queensland. There is an election coming up so let’s have a partisan vote whether they should be cancelled or keep on going spending the billions. Geoff

If already scanned items are put back with unscanned items instead of going straight into bags, fair bet those items will be scanned again and if you don’t check the docket, you’ll be clueless that you’ve paid twice for stuff, then whinge about “high cost of living!” Gettin’ bloody ripped off everywhere.
