Golfer’s $5.35m pay day

- Viva Hyde

Aussie golf superstar Adam Scott has teed up the $5.35m sale of his Gold Coast home, two years after the luxury property with custom putting green and rooftop spa hit the market.

The drawn-out property pay day for the long-held Scott family estate at Hope Island follows the former world No.1 player’s move to Switzerland with Swedish wife Marie.

The five-bedroom, fivebathroom resort-worthy home on a 2519sqm lot was initially listed in 2022 for $8m and sold in January through Ray White Sanctuary Cove agent Matt Gates.

While falling well short of the initial eye-popping list price, the deal is still almost double the amount 43-yearold Scott paid in 2006, when he purchased the property from his father Philip Scott, for $2.75m.

The fully automated house is within the luxury Sanctuary Cove estate, home to championship golf courses and well known for its unique “golf buggy lifestyle”.

It has double golf buggy parking available along with a four-car garage. Property features include a designer kitchen, wine cellar and bar, with multiple living and dining spaces and an easy flow to an inviting al fresco pavilion with built-in barbecue kitchen overlooking the palm-fringed pool.

A marble-tiled downstairs lounge with gas fireplace has views of the custom putting green.

A contemporary staircase with glass balustrades leads up to four ensuited bedrooms on the second floor, as well as a large gym or yoga studio, sauna, and home theatre.

Mr Gates’ listing described the master bedroom as a “lavish haven” with a walk-in robe and marble ensuite with a freestanding bath.

The rooftop deck with spa provides yet another option for either entertaining or relaxation.

“Solidly built and fully renovated, this private oasis on a half-acre allotment is the ultimate entertainer,” Mr Gates said in the property listing.

“An endless summer is always on the horizon here, with the pool with Italian Bisazza tiles glistening in the sunshine,” the listing said. “For a change of scenery when hosting guests or relaxing, head to the rooftop terrace with spa.”

Scott is currently ranked 48th in the PGA Tour and was the world’s No.1 ranked golfer in 2014.

He retains a holiday home at Sunshine Beach.

PropTrack data shows house prices in Hope Island were up 25.9 per cent over the past 12 months to a median of $1.75m.
