A ‘botched’ invasion
A pair of accused bikies have been arrested by police after allegedly breaking into the wrong house in the middle of the night while armed with weapons and frightening a 60year-old woman.
Police allege about 2am on January 3, four Mongols Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) members and associates, armed with weapons, broke into a house at Labrador. But it’s understood the men attended the wrong address, and instead broke into the home of an innocent woman.
The woman was not injured and the men quickly fled, according to police.
Two men were arrested in January over the alleged home invasion after search warrants were executed in Pimpama and Upper Coomera.
Police said they seized a stolen car, a double barrel sawn off shotgun, shotgun shells, drugs, weapons, a large amount of cash and jewellery.
A 29-year-old and 32-yearold were charged and put before the court but two other men involved remained outstanding. Police caught up with a third man along the Pacific Motorway at Helensvale on January 13, and he has been charged with one count of enter dwelling with intent and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
A fourth man, a 23-year-old, has since been arrested in Maryborough.
He was charged with one count of enter dwelling with intent and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Maryborough court on March 25.
Organised Crime Gangs Group Detective Superintendent Troy Pukallus said police were committed to cracking down on OMCGs.
“In 2023, we engaged in some long-term jobs … we got some really good targets of interest,” Supt Pukallus said.
“We are well-embedded now in what we do. Bikies know who we are and they will always test the boundaries.”
