APPETITE FOR DES-TRUCTION

- Travis Meyn Rating: 7/10 Rating: 6/10

Des Hasler has arrived on the Gold Coast with the sole mission of turning the Titans into an NRL premiership contender. The two-time premiership winner has a track record of success and a quality roster to take the Titans back to the finals.

BACKS

The Titans have plenty of strike, but also some question marks, when it comes to their backline. Flying wingers Alofiana Khan-Pereira and Phillip Sami know how to cross the white line and score points from anywhere on the field. Brian Kelly is a solid performer but AJ Brimson will move from fullback to centre in what is a crucial decision that could prove pivotal to the Titans’ success.

The Titans’ spine could either be rocks or diamonds in 2024. Jayden Campbell has been struggling with a knee injury and will be replaced by young gun Keano Kini at fullback. Kini is a tremendous talent but unproven at NRL level and could take time to find his feet. Hooker Sam Verrills has been injury prone throughout his career and needs to stay on the field. Halves Tanah Boyd and Kieran Foran enjoy playing alongside each other and need to strike a consistent combination if the Titans are going to be a threat.

FORWARDS

The Titans have invested heavily in their forward pack and that is undoubtedly where the team’s strength is. Tino Fa’asuamaleaui, David Fifita

The shift of AJ Brimson to centre could be the spark both he and the Titans need. Brimson has struggled with injuries throughout his career and this move may help his longevity and consistency. Brimson is a dynamic ballrunner who could pose a serious threat to opposition defences if he gets plenty of early, good ball. He could be a game-changer for the Titans’ backline.
