Indian a quick local favourite

A Gold Coast Indian restaurant that opened its CBD eatery only eight months ago has been crowned the city’s best.

Krish Indian in Southport has taken out the Gold Coast Bulletin’s best Indian restaurant for 2024, as voted by readers.

Owner Devi Prasad said she felt “honoured” to have topped the poll after 19 years of serving Gold Coasters.

Ms Prasad said they opened the first of four Indian and Fijian-inspired restaurants in Worongary on March 1, 2005, followed by outlets at Robina and Varsity Lakes.

The family’s newest Krish Indian venture debuted in Southport eight months ago.

She said the secret to their success was being “motivated and passionate about what we do”.

“We feel greatly honoured and appreciate our valued customers for their support over the past 19 years,” she said.

“This motivates us more to keep going and provide the best service to our customers.”

Ms Prasad said “succulent” butter chicken and a Fijian-style grass-fed goat curry on the bone were their most popular dishes.

“It’s popular because chefs are highly trained to prepare each dish perfectly using the quality spices from India, Fiji and Australia.”

Krish Indian Southport competed with 29 other finalists to be named the Gold Coast’s best Indian restaurant and emerged with 23 per cent of the vote.

“Great family run business,” Michael McDonald commented after casting his vote. “I know how hard they work on delivering great food.”

Another local who voted for Krish Indian commented they had the “best food on the Gold Coast”. There’s more to come for flavour fans – the Gold Coast Bulletin will reveal the Gold Coast’s top 10 Indian restaurants on March 20.
