Billionaire ‘Highrise’ Harry speaking at fundraiser
One of Australia’s wealthiest men will speak to a Gold Coast business audience in a rare interview at The Star later this month.
High-rise king Harry Triguboff – dubbed ‘Highrise Harry’ – will share his passion for the Glitter Strip at the annual Ray White Surfers Paradise (RWSP) Business Meets Sport lunch on March 22.
It comes as the 91-year-old developer announced his plans to construct multiple new highrises on prime sites in Surfers Paradise following his beachfront Ocean tower.
RWSP Chairman Andrew Bell (right), who will host the lunch and interview the billionaire on stage, said he was thrilled to offer guests the rare opportunity to hear from the successful businessman.
“Harry is Australia’s largest high-rise apartment developer and his stellar career has seen him amass a fortune of $23.8 billion and earn a place on Australia’s Rich List,” Mr Bell (above) said.
“He is certainly one of Australia’s greatest rags to riches stories, and we look forward to him sharing insights into his childhood in China, his immigration to this country and his career”.
Mr Triguboff was named as Gold Coast’s largest developer and has a number of development sites in planning.
“Outside of Sydney, the Gold Coast is Harry’s largest development portfolio,” Mr Bell said. “He’s built over 80,000 apartments, he has single handedly housed more Australians than anybody else in the country.”
The fundraising recipient is Surfers Paradise Surf Life Saving Club, and over the years a million dollars has been raised.
The Australian Olympic team boss and triple gold medalist Anna Meares will also speak with Mr Bell at the lunch.
“She’s coming to tell us about how things are shaping up for the Paris Olympics and some behind the scene insights into the lead-up to the Olympic games,” Mr Bell said.
