Fortune teller tips lottery win for Gold Coast woman

- Mohammad Alfares

A Gold Coast woman who purchased a lottery ticket for the first time after seeing a fortune teller was in disbelief after scooping $100,000 in Monday’s draw.

The Burleigh Heads woman, who chose to remain anonymous, clinched the guaranteed 1st Prize in the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw.

She was oblivious to her new-found fortune when an official from The Lott called to surprise her with the lifechanging news immediately after the draw.

“Oh, you’re kidding! One hundred thousand dollars?! Oh, good heavens. Pick me up!” she said in disbelief.

“I can’t believe it. I was told I was going to have some luck come to me spiritually. Seriously, I probably sound crazy, but a fortune teller told me so.”

The woman told The Lott staff that she decided to see a fortune teller after seeing an advertisement for a clairvoyant online.

She was told by the psychic that she would have some good luck coming her way, but never envisioned winning the lottery the next day.

“It was my first time playing Lucky Lotteries, and the only reason was because of the reading,” she said.

The woman admitted she was too surprised to make any immediate plans with her jackpot windfall.

“I’m retired and it’s not easy. I don’t have anything in particular, but this is going to help more than you know.”

The winning ticket was purchased at the Nextra Burleigh Town News shop in Burleigh Heads.

Store manager Alexis Heathcote said she and the team were ecstatic to have sold a winning ticket.

“It’s always great to hear that our customer has won a major prize,” Ms Heathcote said.

“In 2018, we sold a $60m winning ticket in Powerball and we’ve had plenty of others over the years.

“We’ve already started decorating in the store and telling our customers the amazing news.”
