- Charlton Hart

Wild teens running amok and verbally clashing with a staffer have halted a packed peakhour Brisbane-to-Gold Coast train, stranding passengers.

The express service from Brisbane came to an unplanned stop near Logan at 6.15pm on Monday as a train staffer confronted three girls who yelling and shouting.

“He asked them to settle down” an anonymous passenger on-board the train said. “They said something like ‘mate it wasn’t us’ and it just escalated from there.”

Footage shows the train driver erupt after he was called a c*** by one of the teenagers.

He grabs the girl and shoves her towards the front of the train as another girl unleashes with an expletive ridden tirade.

A third teen can be seen walking into view. A scuffle unfolded in front of a packed train with passengers appearing stunned while others try to ignore it.

“I think he (train driver) let his ego get the better of him,” the anonymous passenger said.

“They were off the rails but he didn’t have to come down and start swearing at them and escalate the situation. He could have just called police and got them to meet the train at a station.”

A Queensland Rail spokeswoman said it was investigating an anti-social behaviour incident: “The Passenger Emergency Intercom was activated and traincrew responded.

“Queensland Rail does not wish to prejudice the outcome of the matter by making further comment.”

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said it had no official complaint and the matter

“I think he (train driver) let his ego get the better of him. They were off the rails but he didn’t have to come down and start swearing at them and escalate the situation.

would not be investigated further. It’s unclear what sparked the confrontation but a witness caught up in the incident told how the girl, 13, and her boyfriend. The witness, standing behind the 13-year-old, stood up and told them to leave the girl alone when they began making threats. The teens turned their attentions to the woman who had stepped.

Another male passenger was forced to intervene and was reportedly pushed by the girls.

The female witness then hits the emergency button, which caused the train to stop. When the driver came back into the carriage to investigate, the girls started hitting him, the witness said. The girls can be seen running down the train in the video before another voice, understood to be a security guard, can be heard talking with the driver.

They agree to ring police to meet them at the next stop.

The train was cancelled and all passengers were forced to get off at Altandi station and wait for the next train which was also reportedly filled with passengers.
