Reports that council inspectors issued 2,000 parking fines over Easter really cheesed me off too. Because people in my street in Robina mhave been using the footpath as a private carpark every night for over a year. One complaint to council was received with an it’s been resolved response when it hadn’t and numerous complaints to the local councillor came to nothing.

So the GCCC are considering removing the cycle lanes from Southport and Surfers to accommodate the “entitled” large SUV drivers, is this some sort of crazy April fools joke?

Enough of the Brittany and Bruce circus only the lawyers will win in the end!

Knew a bloke in London who used to take a parking ticket off an already ticketed car and put on his own. Never got his own ticket ever!

Hello, who at Nobbys on the tram track can be surprised by a downturn in business? How can you not be aware of the wreckage called Southport? Flicka

CH 5/4. Regarding surcharge on public holidays. It’s a long stretch to compare national companies like Woolies, Coles and servos to small restaurants who have to pay staff more on the day. Simple don’t eat out at Easter .Jayar Palmy.

Poor Molly, will be sitting in her cage thinking what have I done to those stupid humans to deserve this , squawk! Stan

Aussie police years behind the US at quickly stopping stolen car pursuits to protect other motorists lives. Their cars are fitted with steel nudge bars, and trained to nudge the stolen cars off the roads and end the pursuit. Our guys are forbidden to, making our cops feel worthless and resigning. KenW.

Why do we keep talking about Queensland’s future, the Olympics and anything political as being run by a Labor Government. LNP might not be any better but it’s obvious Labor are gonski after the next election….farewell and amen! Tallai Terror

Re Knife in schools . Time for a history lesson no name . If your either from interstate or been living under a rock for well over 20 years . QLD has been punished with Labor running the show for far too long . To blame a one term Newman Gov that actually stood up instead of lettuce leaf sentences and very poor governing decisions you must be joking right . Bill

Keith Woods column re parking fines. Why were ticket recipients “unsuspecting” Surely you should be expecting a fine, unless rules change. KOWZY

Hopefully all those parking fines our fabulous Council issued to locals on Easter Monday will clog up the sewerage works and flood the Council chambers !!! LMS Tallebudgera

It’s official now- the worst public

transport in Australia- is here- on the GC. Busses- totally useless- don’t arrive on time- or not arriving at all , route- 749- the worst, drivers not train or experienced enough,- very risky- relaying on busses- to get to your appointments ! Will never swap my car- for public transport !

Re stolen cars if u don’t want it stolen get a hidden switch fitted to your fuel pump turn off after parking Jono

A cashless society will cost you $ of you’re own $ to spend. Banks have no $ without us. Yet charge us. Balls in our court I’d say.4cr

Scientists warn that the Earth could run out of conspiracy theories by 2025 if they keep coming true at the current rate.

They told us in the 1960s that the oil would be gone in 10 years, the 1970s we were headed for another ice age in 10 years, 1980s acid rain would destroy all crops within 10 years, 1990s it was the ozone layer that was to disappear in 10 years, 2000s and the ice caps were on the way out in 10 years. None of this has happened. But, all have resulted in more taxes.

How sad that a Father and his Son drowned while trying to save a small child from a swimming pool. It often seems to be the way of things that the person being rescued is saved but the rescuers perish. Jus Saying

Received my latest Land Valuation and it’s jumped up by $150,000 so I’m guessing I will also see a rise in my Rates also. Sick of the GCCC’s constant “money grabs” when they won’t even stop people breaking their bylaws by parking illegally on nature strips/council green areas. How about some return for my hard earned and fine those who have cars, boats, caravans, trailers all parked everywhere but on their own land. Old Codja

Glad to see the back of Donna gates! Should have gone ages ago.

A group high IQ, people went out for lunch at a café and noticed that the salt shaker contained pepper and the pepper shaker salt. How to rectify the situation? Clearly this was a job for high IQ minds.Following debate, the group came up with a brilliant solution involving a napkin, a straw and an empty saucer. They called the waitress over, ready to dazzle her with their solution. “Miss,” they said, “We couldn’t help but notice that the pepper shaker contains salt and the salt shaker .... ” But before they could finish, the waitress apologised, leaned over the table, unscrewed the caps of both bottles and switched them. There was dead silence at the table. Don’t confuse IQ and education with common sense
