Les Dyne HQ for sale
Property once home to cancer patient’s burgeoning health business
The Burleigh Heads headquarters building from which former cancer patient Les Dyne built a suite of natural health products that have sold internationally is on the market.
The 54-56 Junction Rd property was acquired in 1993 after the former lawyer, in tandem with nutritionist wife Patti, struck success in the fight against cancer with powdered green shoots of barley.
They set up a business called
Sustainable Agriculture and Food Enterprises.
Mr Dyne, 81, said he was selling the Burleigh building as the business had downsized and had new areas of focus, including hair testing.
“We’ve moved our offices to the property next door, which we own and which houses laboratories.”
The former HQ, which is on a 1943sq m site, includes warehousing and two laboratories.
It is to be auctioned on May 3 and is being marketed by Pat Cavanagh and Jessica Vella, of
Ray White Commercial Gold Coast.
Mr Cavanagh said the property was being sold at a time when a lack of supply was driving insatiable demand for freehold industrial assets.
“Buyers of all types – from owner-occupiers to investors and developers – are looking for opportunities.”
Mr Cavanagh said the Dyne property, by virtue of its location in the centre of the Burleigh Heads industrial precinct, was close to major arterial roads and the M1 motorway. The Dynes previously have sold other property in Junction Rd and they retain titles nearby in Fremantle St.
Their Junction Rd building, which is being sold with vacant possession, spans 1160sq m and is on a 1943sq m site bought in 1993.
The property has parking for 20 cars and the building is topped by 120 solar panels.
Mr Dyne, at 38, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and had a large tumour in his pelvic area, with 16cm of pelvic bone wasted away. He underwent three years of chemotherapy and then his research led him to a package of powdered green shoots of barley.
Mr Dyne said that after taking the package for three months, the pelvic bone had regenerated and three months later the tumour had disappeared.
“Today, after 32 years of organic growth in health foods, we are involved in industries as diverse as therapeutic manufacturing, analytical services and agriculture.”
