Ppl that are dealing/working in public placeswith ppl have the right to wear stab-proof clothing, vests. Govt, big business should supply the necessary equipment for these ppl to keep ppl safe. They need to employ ppl trained in hostage situations, close quarter skills –truly get on top it now.

Bring back Police Beat at shopping centres. Some years ago I closely followed an agitated young male into a major Gold Coast shopping centre. He was muttering, swearing at people AND he had a kitchen knife stuck down the back of his shorts, which he kept fidgeting with. I was about to call 000 but fortunately located a security person who notified police. The guy with the knife spotted us and did the bolt though. Tops

For everyone with a diagnosis of Schizophrenia their medication should be free to ensure they take it regularly. If they don’t take it & they hear voices that’s when problems can occur. This is preventative medicine & the federal government should make changes to the pharmaceutical benefits scheme in the wake of what’s recently happened. A Realist.

Sadly if you want to prevent a repeat of the Bondi Junction shopping centre knife attacks you need to reinstate the police beats and check people at entrances with metal detectors. At Sydney airport recently the AFP officers were carrying automatic or semi automatic weapons. That’s a real & very visible deterrent.

What a horrible world this is. An entire generation who have never heard the word No. We might not have guns like America, but a knife is just as deadly in the hands of someone who knows no restraint. RAMBO

All our hopeless politicians “united in grief “– the reality is they worry about keeping their own jobs as their inaction on crime and drugs in Australia is for everyone to see. Politicians hope that the news will blow away in couple weeks and they can go back to Doing Nothing !

After spending near on 2 weeks in the GCUH in a few different wards and having Biopsy,s , Xrays, Ultra sounds and Cat scans I have nothing but praise for all the hard working medical staff that tended me . A special thanks to all the boys and girls that looked after me in Ward D5 North which is where I was for the majority. John Harrington
