Cops conducted 348 street checks 377 traffic infringement and engage with 10,436 member of the public. Some may compare the blitz to 100s cops arresting school kids for truancy ? Why not target serious crime figures and their networks on the coast? The untouchables. AW

QLD Police Minister Mark Ryan yet again spinning yarns and treating us all like mugs. Official crime figures are released, and 9049 juvenile offenders jumped bail, many to reoffend, yet somehow Mr Ryan wants us to believe Labor policies are working, crime is down, and our police service has never been healthier. And fairies grow in the backyard too. Razr

Re: Current crime epidemic, Laura Gerber claims we need “more & tougher” laws. Crims are not afraid of ‘laws’ but stronger & tougher Judges & Magistrates might get better results! Anticrim

BMK : Thieves breaking into houses to get keys ... if they don’t find them, what might they do to residents? Best get them out pronto. Flicka

Is stricter school discipline making a comeback? Sadly, in a lot of cases it’s the parents who need disciplining. ajs

Wise oldies agree, lower the age of adult prison sentencing down from 18 to 16, which is the average age of the criminal youths, and crime will drop by about 60%. However a few lashes with the rattan cane is guaranteed to reduce violent youth crime by 100%. KenW.

We’re in a knife epidemic, as long as the coward crims carry them others are only going to carry them. Teenage boys in particular are frightened, they put up the tough guy image but truth is they’re living in fear, so they carry a weapon. Too much garbage internet, Hollywood BS and the gaming industry has a lot to answer to.

Tick tock, tick tock! Landfill capacity is fast running out as are scarce burial plots. Water security will become a problem when the next drought arrives. Crime is rampant, rental and house prices are out of control and greenfield sites for new housing developments have all but disappeared. The house full sign has not been put up but people who can’t afford to pay rent for luxury high rise units will get the message soon and stop moving here.

With Albo’s $275 electricity reduction and Miles’s $1000 electricity rebate, we’re all on a winner. Go Labor! Johnbrew

You can’t have it both ways. Anyone who goes on about climate change surely can’t accept the cash from Smiles. Sending the state broke with all their unrealistic pipe dreams on energy and it seems the price of Qlders is $1000. And that’s just someone else’s opinion. Peter

Albo thinks he’s Biden in wiping out billions in student debt , how

generous he is with tax payers money, hopefully it’s home loans next .

Yes. I am a female. But, I don’t think we need new “Reproductive Leave” for females. Unfair to males. Just increase sick leave to 15 days for all . Diz.

The political cycle of life. One political party in government wears out its welcome and is replaced by another political party making promises it cannot keep. The new government blames all of its failure on the former government until it wears its welcome out and is replaced. And the political cycle of life continues.

Maybe I am old fashioned. I read the bulletin every day and I am disgusted at the photos taken of half naked girls with drinks in their hands and pointing their tongues out in your nightspotting page.

I read that less than one large glass of wine or a large beer a day could make you blind in later life. Half the people in Darwin, where I come from, should be blind if that’s the case.

Titans fifita to Panthers can only hope he plays for the money not for the club.

Reports that Penrith has offered David Fifita $150,000 per year less than he is currently being paid at the Titans indicates they hope David will put the prospect of winning a premiership ahead of financial considerations and living near family and friends in more beautiful surroundings. Good luck with that Penrith.

Surely teams should only spend the big bucks on players who have both the requisite ability AND attitude. A bit of caution may be necessary at the moment!

Penrith’s offer to Fifita shows what he is worth. Not what the Titans are paying him. He will stay with the Titans for the money because he will get flogged at the Panthers to come up to speed with the rest of the team. If you can’t perform for 80 minutes you are a part time player. GN

If David Fifita had a secret meeting with Penrith I would like to see a public meeting. Jim

Titans should just let him go. Imagine What they could do with that money? Fifita is a great player when he is on but that is always flip of a coin. We need some better quality halves.

Fifita should never have been given that sort of money in the first place. Coin Panthers are offering is accurate for him.
