Fashion odyssey aims for $100k dream

- Ashleigh Jansen

Gold Coast fashion designer Sonia Stradiotto is celebrating 35 years of seams, sequins and success in her industry.

To celebrate the milestone the couture designer is hosting a “fashion odyssey” at Royal Pines Resort on June 7 – featuring what she says is an Australian first.

“Everything I do I do with a purpose,” she said.

“I’m creating a fashion odyssey, not a parade – the grand ballroom will have Australia’s first and biggest state-of-the-art screen which will be prototyped and shared with our event.”

The event will raise funds for four selected charities.

Ms Stradiotto said she hoped to raise $100,000 on the night.

“Last year we managed to raise $75,000, this year my dream is to make it to $100,000,” she said.

“These are incredible nonfor-profit charities and it’s my honour and privilege to serve them.”

The charities include Gold Coast Community Fund, St Johns Crisis Centre, The Carers Foundation and Enriching Lives.

“There will be a cocktail party on arrival, the show in true theatre style and the after-party,” Ms Stradiotto said.

“It’s a big night and I’m honoured the mayor will be there along with so many people from across our community.”

She added: “This event is all about the community I’ve been built by.”

Tickets are from $99.
