‘I want to watch another one’: kids review Bluey’s longest ever episode

-

Did you like The Sign?

Ottoline, seven: Yeah. I liked the fact that everybody was being a bit silly at the wedding. [But] I really don’t understand some of it. If you just pull out the sign, it’s not for sale any more. But even if you pull out the sign, they still bought it? And they bought another house, but how did they just buy it at the very last minute? And just before they left, they had to move in again?

Edgar, four: Yeah, I wanted to be Bingo. She didn’t mind [moving house]. I will be that way if I was Bingo. What about if we put a sign in front of our house?

Ottoline: Bingo didn’t mind moving because she thought they were going to stay there. Then when she heard that they were moving and they didn’t get to live there any more, she was quite upset. It doesn’t usually happen in Bluey so it sort of made me feel a bit sad … because it meant that if there were any other Bluey episodes, they would be not be at that house, or they would be with another guy.

Edgar: I want to watch another one. Bertie, four: I liked the episode because I liked Muffin in it, when Muffin danced with Socks.

Patrick, two: Muffin has nice flowers.

Who is your favourite character?

Ottoline: My favourite character was probably Bluey. I don’t know [why], it’s just something in the episode that makes me feel she’s my favourite character.

Maeve, seven: My favourite character is Bluey and Bingo and Muffin and all the little kids because they’re funny and also Bingo didn’t know what selling means.

Nina, three: Bingo.

Did you have a favourite bit?

Edgar: Noooo.

Finia, seven: My favourite part was when they got married. It was a cute bit of the story. Aunt Frisky was so beautiful.

Ottoline: Probably the wedding bit. Nina: When they had the dance party in the pink tent with all the music. I loved the wedding part.

Maeve: My favourite part was when they didn’t sell the house any more, because it’s happy.

What was the funniest bit?

Ottoline: Probably when they were in the middle of getting married. When the wedding started and they got really cross and ran away, that was a bit funny. Everybody was being really silly and there was lots of colours and music and stuff.

Finia: When they were in the car and Muffin said, “I need the toilet, Aunty Chilli”.

Maeve: When Muffin dropped her drink, it spilt all over the place and when the butterfly was in the car, be

cause it’s just funny.

Did you find any bits boring?

Ottoline: Not really. Maeve: No.

Did you like that it was longer?

Maeve: Yes.

Nina: I liked it!

Finia: It was good that it was longer because it was more of a story, it included more subjects. It was like two stories in one. It was a tiny bit dramatic and a tiny bit cute.

Ottoline: It was better because they could add more things and detail. It made the episode much more funny and exciting.

Edgar: Can we watch some more Bluey?

Why do you think they made it longer?

Maeve:Because there was a lot happening and also because marries [weddings] can be really long when you’re selling the house.

Ottoline: Probably because there was a lot that had to be happening before the wedding, and then one of the people ran away in the wedding, and so there was a lot of things happening in that, and also because they had to put another story, sort of around it, about moving house.

Did it feel different from other Bluey episodes?

Ottoline: Very different. It had more detail, it had more scenes and stuff like that.

Maeve: Yes, because it was longer and also it had two stories in it – selling the house and getting married.

Finia: I think the story was telling us that things can change but can also keep going the same way they were. It made me happy.
