Infinity NEEDLES & ACCESSORIES

- Tanja Murray

TANJA MURRAY is well known to many of our readers through her beautiful hand-dyed yarns, created under her brand The Knitting Swede. Tanja loves to design shawls, too, and this project is worked in two shades of her Charisma 4ply yarn. It is knitted from the top down, with a body worked in stocking stitch stripes. The lower border features a beautiful floral pattern created using nupps and wrapped stitches.

PATTERN NOTE

When purling across yo2, knit the first yo and purl the second yo. For a video on how to do the Turkish cast-on, see http://bit.ly/turkishco.

SHAWL SET UP

Using 4mm circular needles and yarn A, cast on 10 sts (5 sts/loops on each needle) using the Turkish cast-on: holding both needle tips in your left hand, wrap the yarn anti-clockwise around both 5 times, pull the bottom needle out so the cast-on loops wrap the cable on the bottom and you can knit. Row 1: K5. Row 2: Holding the strands securely, rotate the work 180 degrees, reposition the needles as necessary, and knit the 5 cast-on sts that were on the cable.
