Triangular panelled shawl with delicate lace pattern

A glowing, silky hand-dyed yarn shows off the lace patterns on this pretty shawl

- ANNIKEN ALLIS

THIS DELICATE triangular shawl is knitted from the top down, and it has a central panel on the back which helps it to sit well around the shoulders. Designed by Anniken Allis, the shawl features a selection of pretty lace patterns. It is knitted in a variegated hand-dyed yarn from Fyberspates, called Gleem, which blends Bluefaced Leicester wool with silk. Anniken has provided charts as well as written instructions for the lace. The directions for the shawl begin on page 28.

PATTERN NOTES

Shawl is worked from the top down. It is recommended to use the Garter Tab cast-on with a provisional cast-on method. Anniken used the Turkish/Eastern cast on as a provisional cast-on method for her sample - you can watch a tutorial here: http://bit.ly/annico

TURKISH/EASTERN CAST ON

Hold the needle tips of the circular needle together in the left hand, and tie a slip knot on the bottom needle. Wrap the yarn under the needles, up the back of the needles and down the front of the needles; wrap yarn around a total of 3 times. Pull the bottom needle tip forward ready to knit the sts on the top needle tip. Then work the first row of the garter stitch tab.
