HOOD

Using 4.5mm needles, cast on 24 ( 25: 24: 25: 25: 25) sts, knit across 25 ( 25: 27: 27: 29: 31) sts from back neck holder, turn and cast on 24 ( 25: 24: 25: 25: 25) sts. 28 73 ( 75: 75: 77: 79: 81) sts. Beg with a P row, work in st st until hood meas 18 ( 18: 19: 19: 20: 20) cm, ending with RS facing for next row.

SHAPE HOOD TOP

Next row: Cast off 24 ( 25: 25: 25: 26: 27) sts (1 st left on needle), knit 24 ( 24: 24: 26: 26: 26), cast off rem 24 ( 25: 25: 25: 26: 27) sts. With WS facing, rejoin yarn to rem sts and cont until work meas 12 ( 12 :12 : 13 : 13 : 13 ) cm, ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off. Join the cast-off sts at each side of hood to sides of this last section.

HOOD BORDER

With RS facing, using 4mm needles, pick up and knit 104 ( 104: 108: 108: 116: 116) sts evenly all round hood edge. Row 1 (WS): K1, *P2, K2; rep from * to last 3 sts, P2, K1. Row 2: P1, K2, *P2, K2; rep from * to last st, P1. These 2 rows set rib. Work 5 rows more in rib. Cast off in rib.

BUTTONHOLE BAND

With RS facing, using 4mm needles, pick up and knit 60 ( 64: 68: 72: 76: 80) sts evenly down left front edge. Row 1 (WS): K1, * P2, K2, rep from * to last 3 sts, P2, K1. Row 2: K3, *P2, K2; rep from * to last st, K1. These 2 rows set rib. Next row: Rib 3, [cast off 2 sts, rib until there are 11 ( 12: 13: 14: 15: 16) sts on RH needle] 4 times, cast off 2 sts, rib 2. Next row: Rib to end, casting on sts over gaps created by casting off sts on previous row. Work 3 rows. Cast off in rib.

BUTTON BAND

With RS facing, using 4mm needles, pick up and knit 60 ( 64: 68: 72: 76: 80) sts evenly up right front edge. Work 7 rows in rib as set for buttonhole band, omitting buttonholes. Cast off in rib. Join side and sleeve seams. Sew hood in place around front neck ending halfway across button and buttonhole bands. Sew on buttons. Subscribe now at
