Row 23: K2, yo, K2tog, K1, K2tog, yo, K2tog, K1, cast on 1 st.

Row 24: K2tog twice, (yo, K2tog) twice, K1, K2tog last st with next st of border, turn.

Work Rows 1-24, 16 more times until 3 sts before centre st.

Work Rows 1-24 once more, working the final stitch on rows 6, 10, 14, 18 and 22 as K1 instead of working a K2tog with stitch from border.

Work Rows 1-24, 17 times to 1 st before end.

Next row: K2, yo, K2tog, K2, yo, K2, cast on 1 st.

Next row: K2tog, K7, K2tog last st with first st of Feather & Fan border, turn.

Cast off.

TOP EDGE

With RS facing and yarn D, pick up and knit each garter stitch bump along top edge to centre sts, pick up and knit 1 st in loop before centre sts, knit across sts from spare cable or waste yarn, pick up and knit 1 st in loop after centre sts, pick up and knit each garter stitch bump along top edge to end.

Knit 2 rows, decreasing 1 st on final row if stitch count is uneven.

Change to yarn E.

Next row: K2, (yo, K2tog) to last 2 sts, K2. Next row: K2, purl to last 2 sts, K2.

Change to yarn D. Knit 2 rows.

Cast off loosely.

Soak in handwash detergent for minimum of 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly, following any yarn care instructio­ns on the ball band . Roll in a towel and squeeze out excess moisture. Pin out on a towel on a flat surface and gently block to measuremen­ts. Leave to dry, then weave in all ends.
