The number of stitches varies when working the Lace Chart patt. Stitches should only be counted after Rows 5, 6, 11 and 12 of chart. All stitch counts given presume there are 8 stitches in each pattern repeat at any given time.

MAKING UP

Join shoulder seams using back stitch, or mattress stitch if preferred.

NECK EDGING

With RS facing and using 4mm circular needles, slip sts from right front holder to right needle, rejoin yarn and pick up and knit 44 ( 47: 52: 55: 58) sts up right side of front neck, 3 sts down right side of back neck, knit across 35 ( 35: 39: 39: 41) sts on back holder, then pick up and knit 3 sts up left side of back neck and 44 ( 47: 52: 55: 58) sts down left side of front neck, then knit across sts on left front holder.

207 ( 213: 227: 233: 241) sts if 39 sts were on each front holder; 197 ( 203: 217: 223: 231) sts if 34 sts were on each front holder.

Work in garter st for 4 rows, ending with WS facing for next row.

Cast off knitwise on WS.

FINISHING

Block gently to measuremen­ts, following any yarn care instructio­ns on the ball band.

Set in sleeves.

Sew side and sleeve seams.

Weave in ends and block once more, if desired.
