PATTERN NOTES

The tunic is worked in the round on circular needles from the bottom up. The short sleeves are knitted first, then joined to the body to shape the raglan-style armholes.

SLEEVES

Using 3.25mm straight needles, cast on 86 ( 90: 94: 96: 100: 104: 108: 110: 116: 120) sts. Knit 6 rows.

Starting with a RS row, work in st st until sleeve meas 5cm from cast-on edge, ending after a WS row.

Next row (RS): K6 ( 7: 8: 9: 10: 10: 11: 12: 13: 14) and leave these sts on holder, knit to end. Next row (WS): P6 ( 7: 8: 9: 10: 10: 11: 12: 13: 14) and leave these sts on holder, purl to end.

Break yarn. Leave rem 74 ( 76: 78: 78: 80: 84: 86: 86: 90: 92) sts on separate holder.

SKIRT

Using 3.75mm circular needles, cast on

426 ( 438: 454: 466: 482: 494: 506: 522: 534: 546) sts. Do not join.

Note: First 4 rows are worked flat to avoid twisting when joining in the round.

Row 2: K to mrk, slm, P1, slm, K to mrk, slm, K to mrk, slm, P1, slm, K to end.

Row 3: *Knit to 2 sts before mrk, SSK, slm, K1, slm, K2tog, knit to side mrk; rep from * once more.

Row 4: As row 2.

This row sets the pattern of 1 centre st in st st between two 105 ( 108: 112: 115: 119: 122: 125: 129: 132: 135)- stitch panels each side; each of these 105 ( 108: 112: 115: 119: 122:

125: 129: 132: 135)- stitch sections will be worked in Panel Pattern, with decreases worked as below. 6 total markers in place: 1 each side of each centre st, and 1 at each side ‘seam’.

Turn so RS is facing. Pm and join to work in the rnd.

Work Rnds 1-131 of Panel pattern over designated sts and centre sts between markers in st st; AT THE SAME TIME, dec 1 st at each side of centre sts on Rnd 3, then every foll 4th rnd another 32 times, and 1 st at each side of side markers on Rnd 3, then every foll 8th rnd another 16 times.

After Rnds 1-36 of Panel pattern have been worked: 14 total sts dec’d per panel; 56 sts dec’d in total.

Turn work so WS is facing. Cast off all sts knitwise using 3.75mm needles.

FINISHING

With WS facing, join held underarm sts using a three-needle cast-off.

Sew sleeve seams.

Weave in ends and block gently to measuremen­ts, following any yarn care instructio­ns on the ball band.
