Billionaire yacht owner cut employees’ wages
A $100 million superyacht that’s been sitting in Cairns Marlin Marina for the past few weeks was the subject of controversy when bought in 2009.
German screw manufacturing billionaire Reinhold Würth bought the 78m Vibrant Curiosity, which includes a helicopter, at the same time his employees were asked to take pay cuts and reduce hours.
According to media reports at the time, 1250 of his 5000 employees in Germany had their pay cut by 15 per cent at a time when Europe was grappling with the global financial crisis.
The superyacht has luxury accommodation for 14, a VIP suite and a crew of 26.
