Tigers in fine form for finals face-off

WE’RE JUST GOING TO HAVE TO BE PREPARED TO PLAY FOR THE FULL 90 MINUTES, OR MAYBE EVEN FOR 120 DEAN ASHTON, EDGE HILL COACH

EDGE Hill roared back to life just in time for the finals, and at least that same intensity is what coach Dean Ashton is looking for from his side going into what is set to be an enthralling battle for a place in the FNQ Football Premier Women’s grand final.

Major semi-final combatants the Tigers and Southside Comets have been neck-andneck most of the season with the premiers taking the points in their latest meeting.

But Ashton said all that would all mean nothing come this afternoon.

“We know what we’re going to get from each other, we’ve played each other enough times through the season that’s for sure,” he said.

“Yes we beat them but we know they’ve beaten us too twice this season so we’ve just got to be prepared to play for the full 90 minutes or maybe even for 120.”

Ashton said his side showed in a 7-0 win over Leichhardt last weekend they would be up for the challenge after claiming the premiership in scrappy fashion the week prior.

“I think we played ourselves into form. We just talked about going into the game with a better attitude and doing the little things right,” he said.

Southside Comets coach Ryan Bidgood called on his players to “enjoy the moment” of playing semi-final football on one of the best pitches in the league at Stratford and continue their 2016 work.

“We just have to give as much as we can and whatever happens, happens,” he said

Leichhardt FC will be hoping to bounce back from their massive final round loss in the elimination final against Innisfail United on Sunday.
