“We are proud to work in collaboration with Cathay Pacific and, hopefully, there are many more years to come,” said Cairns Airport operations general manager Kate McCreery Carr.
It comes as the Far North enjoys a boom in Asian visitor numbers.
Cathay Pacific Queensland business development manager Howard Field said the airline was “always” looking for opportunities to expand its services.
“We are capped by traffic rights but will certainly monitor the market closely,” he said.
“Cairns is a beautiful place that has so much on offer for Asian tourists.
“Cathay Pacific flies to 22 Chinese destinations, which is a big network that can feed into Cairns.”
