Tropical unveiling for new wagon

NICK DALTON

“We had a line-up of customers waiting in anticipation to get into one to test drive, so that’s been pleasing. We see the Tiguan as one of our bestsellers this and next year.”

Volkswagen is confident the Tiguan will boost sales and interest in the marque for the rest of this year and in 2017.

Sales of the current model are down by nearly half. It is Volkswagen’s fourth most popular after the Golf, Amarok ute and the Polo light car, with about 6300 sales a year.

“Despite moving into a larger vehicle category and offering an expansive raft of standard safety and convenience equipment, the allnew second generation Tiguan will be significantly cheaper to buy than the comparable entry level model of the first generation Tiguan, which launched in 2008,” Mr Atkinson said.

“The all-new Tiguan range begins with the tech-laden 110TSI Trendline manual variant at $31,990 (plus on roads), $2000 more affordable than the comparable first generation entry model at the time of its launch.

“Visually the Tiguan presents a completely new dynamic design character for Volkswagen SUVs.

“Larger proportions directly translate into a more spacious interior, paired with a significant gain in luggage space and versatility.

“Tiguan will offer the most comprehensive package of standard innovative safety technologies and assistance systems in the segment.” Grab your CarsGuide inside today’s
