Kingfisher Recruitment consultant Renee Porter

WHAT IS A TYPICAL DAY?

Recruitment is extremely fast paced and you have to be incredibly organised. I set aside time at the start and end of the day for planning, and there is a lot of phone work.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS?

Kingfisher gave me extensive training. It was four months of internal and external training from webinars, meeting professionals and a coach to build a career plan, and also a 12month business plan I apply every day.

BEST CAREER ADVICE?

It is definitely for people that love people and want to move into a professional industry. Find out which companies will offer you the best capabilities in regards to learning and investment into people because not all companies are the same.

WHAT’S THE HIGHLIGHT?

Before this role, I had that inner turmoil of “am I a designer or am I a sales person?” This role is quite the balance of both, which is probably the best thing about it.

IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD DO DIFFERENTLY?

Yes, at the start I would have set myself goals. I had no idea that being good with people was a career. There are so many avenues I could have been advised to explore but wasn’t. I would advise people to get expert advice on what they really want to do and build a plan towards achieving that. HIRING: Renee Porter predicts a surge in job activity.
