STABLE TIMES AT TRACK

-

Q ADad was a horse trainer and we owned Apps’ flats in Bunda St – everyone knows it. The property behind that is where Dad had his stable and in those days you didn’t have horse floats but lead ponies to take them out to the track.

Q APeople probably know less about your history with horses. Tell us about that. As a young child that sounds like a recipe for fun times and maybe some chaos?

I remember Dad one day stuck myself and my sister on the lead pony but we didn’t know it took double so it threw the both of us off. I ended up face down in the gravel and my sister ended up on top of me with nothing wrong with her.

Q AWe had a horse that won the Gordonvale Cup called Young Monarch. My sister is a good equestrian rider and started in shows when she was five. She has all the sporting talent and I’m just an administrator.

?? ?? You still own horses today. You must have had some good winners over the years?
