Bridges the loser in paparazzo court bid
MICHELLE Bridges has lost the legal dispute against a young Sydney paparazzo, who she said made her feel “threatened” and “violated”.
The Biggest Loser star has had her apprehended violence order (AVO) against 21-yearold photographer Liam Mendes denied, after he filmed her at a Potts Point restaurant and a Woolworths supermarket on April 16 and 22 respectively.
In the Downing Centre Local Court yesterday, Magistrate Joanne Keogh said that while she could understand the frustration of having her private life intruded on, the photographer’s actions towards the 46-year-old did not warrant an AVO to be granted.
Last Thursday during proceedings, Ms Bridges told a Sydney court she was used to being photographed against her will in public places, but that her experience with Mr Mendes was different.
“This is the first time I have ever felt so intimidated and threatened and fearful,” she said.
“I was completely distraught.” Ms Bridges was asked at length about the link between her celebrity status and her profits, and the need for media attention to maintain her commercial interests.
She agreed she had not had any contact with Mr Mendes outside two occasions on April 16 and 22.
