Atherton keep flag flying in pennants

JACOB GRAMS same rewards this weekend.

The team is made up largely of retirees and former club cricketers, including Kenleigh Mather.

“I’ve been in Atherton forever and I took up golf when I finished playing cricket probably 16 years ago,” he said.

“This is our first time together as a team we’re just bracing each other all the way.

“We all get along pretty well. We’re all pretty tight.”

Mather said it was great to see plenty of good young golfers providing a strong challenge, but hoped his side’s experience would pay off now and then.

“I think I’m the youngest in my team and I’m 50 but it’s great to see so many kids coming through. That’s the best thing for the sport,” he said.

“Whether we can stick it to them, we’re hoping so.”
