SEASON IN REVIEW

-

You finished No.2 in the world after a third-place in the World Cup series. What was your highlight?

AWell the first World Cup didn’t start off super well. I ended up finishing fourth and then I got second in Cairns, which was good but obviously I was aiming for first. The highlight was the next World Cup in Fort William (UK) because everyone was like: “Well you just got second because you were in Cairns”. To finish third in the World Cup series was pretty nice too. Third is more than I could have hoped for. I was really using it as a training year for worlds next year.

Q AHow important was Cairns for your momentum for the rest of the season?

I think, to be honest, whenever there’s a race in my hometown I want to win and Rachel Atherton (world champion) whooped me in Cairns and I think it might not have given me momentum but it gave me motivation to do something different for the rest of the season that’s going to make me faster because I wanted to win. It gave me motivation to try new stuff to get the result.

Q AWhat did you change?

Secret stuff. Nah, just between me and dad we did different training techniques. There’s quite a big gap between Cairns. Six weeks was enough for us to try something new and it worked.
