Coke adds a ginger twist
IT’S ginger beer, but not as you know it.
Not satisfied with its cherry, vanilla and low-calorie varieties, the local arm of beverages titan Coca-Cola is preparing to lob Ginger Coke onto unsuspecting Aussie palates.
The new flavour – billed as a cross between regular Coke and ginger beer – will hit supermarket shelves in weeks and is part of Coca-Cola Amatil’s efforts to reinvigorate sales in Australia.
“It’s a new twist on Coke, and it’s one of a pipeline of what you’ll see,” CCA chief executive Alison Watkins said yesterday.
“It keeps adding interest to the category, and that’s what’s really important. It does taste great by the way.”
