EYES ON THE SKIES
THERE would be few better places to learn to fly than Far North Queensland given its stunning scenery. And while it is not exactly a cheap exercise, if it is your passion then getting in the air is not as difficult as it sounds. Mareeba Airport’s North Queensland Aero Club recommend taking part in a trial flight first. You will learn the fundamentals of flight from a qualified instructor, help perform a safety check before take
off and have the opportunity to take the controls once you’re in the air. There are then several types of pilots licences you can aim for, from a recreation licence, right through to a commercial pilot licence or flight instructor rating.
