Twisted savage to rot in prison for life

A “DEPRAVED and sadistic” father and a complicit mother who sexually abused their youngest daughter from the age of five to 19 have each been sentenced to long jail terms.

The NSW parents, who cannot be identified, subjected the child to “profoundly disturbing”, sustained abuse and torture, which often occurred while she was detained in a dilapidated tin shed which used to be a chicken coop.

Judge Sarah Huggett said she had to suspend her natural feelings as a human when preparing sentences for the pair.

The details of much of their crimes are too horrid to be published.

The father was sentenced in Sydney’s District Court yesterday to a minimum 36 years in prison over 73 charges relating to the shocking abuse and years of torture.

The mother was sentenced to 11 years for 13 offences.

Both were found guilty in June following a trial which ran for several months.

During a two-day sentencing hearing on Thursday and yesterday, harrowing accounts of the abuse the parents inflicted upon their child, which included the girl being forced to have sex with both her parents simultaneously, were detailed by Judge Huggett.

“The enormity of the abuse against this daughter involved depravity of an unimaginable magnitude,” she said.

The abuse began in 1997, not long after the family had moved to a rural property with a creek and dilapidated shed.

The father first walked into his daughter’s room naked in February that year, while his wife was at hospital giving birth, and forced himself on the child.

The girl was also regularly abused in the shed. After some of the abuse, he would bind his daughter’s wrists with rope and leave her, sometimes for several nights, wounded and bleeding.

On several occasions, he detained his victim in a barbed wire cage in the shed.

The brutal abuse also involved the father using metal tools to rape his daughter.

When the father was worried she might tell someone, he threatened to kill her while pressing a machete to her neck.

“I own you,” he told his daughter, Judge Huggett said.

“It is atrocious in the extreme,” Judge Huggett said, describing the father as “selfish, depraved and sadistic”.

The girl has developed several disorders stemming from complex childhood trauma and requires ongoing treatment.

“She will suffer the consequences of his despicable and horrible conduct for the rest of her life,” Judge Hugget said.
