First win inspires optimism
FINALLY, we can exhale.
The first three weeks of the NBL season have been challenging to say the least.
It’s safe to assume that everyone would be at panic stations.
Low morale, questions about our depth and affirmation that we should be short priced favourites to get the wooden spoon.
You know what they say about people who assume!
The reality of it is that we should have walked out of Perth and Sydney with victories.
They’re currently the best teams in the competition.
We were three minutes away from victory in Sydney, three seconds away from victory in Perth.
Changing our mindset and not listening to external negative thoughts are crucial to our resurrection.
It culminated in Thursday’s victory against Melbourne United.
Even when headed in the fourth quarter the group felt like it was never going to lose. We know what we are. We are physical, we are energetic.
We are competitive and we know we can overcome anything this season.
So, while we can finally exhale that we did get our first win on the board, we are about to grit our teeth, put our head down and go back to work and show the rest of the competition we are serious contenders this season and we are comfortable in our own skin.
