Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk yesterday reaffirmed Labor’s commitment to allowing a conscience vote on the issue.

Opposition Leader Tim Nicholls has previously said LNP members would have a free vote, but Mr Pyne worried the promise would be reneged in an effort to stop defections to One Nation.

“I’m still concerned the LNP will vote as a block, but time will tell,” he said.

LNP committee member Mark Robinson, who voted against the bill, yesterday told the Cairns Post he was “100 per cent committed” to his party and any suggestion he would switch to Pauline Hanson’s team was “a complete fabricatio­n”.
