Park safety plan irks long-time local

-

“We used to have kids. Four kids we raised,” he said.

“We never had any problem. The kids shouldn’t be out on the road unattended.

“They shouldn’t be out of your yard.”

The model train enthusiast, who taught all his children to drive in his sky blue 1953 FJ Holden ute, said the council should treat Hoad St like a roundabout and make it oneway if it wanted to change anything.

He said blocking the street would cause safety issues for emergency vehicles.

“It’s going to be bad for them. They’re going to hate it,” he said, referring to his neighbours.

“But they’re creating the problem; we never had a problem until now.

“If you close this street, I’ll just drive over the footpath.”

The council plans to conduct a traffic count before installing signs and infrastructure to trial blocking one entrance to the street.
