Q AMy role as president is to ensure from a business perspective we are doing everything we can to make the club a success. Sometimes that means having to make some tough decisions but always with a lens of good governance and a fiscal responsibility.

Q ATroy, can you tell us a little bit about your role as president of the Cairns Taipans? You were the secretary of the board originally, how have you found the step up to president?

The step up has been great, the board isn’t about one person so it wasn’t a dramatic change however I certainly do enjoy not having to take the meeting minutes anymore.

What drove you to get involved on the committee?

I started as a club sponsor and then was approached at the time by Mark Beecroft and Ross Moller to join the board. I hardly knew these guys at the time but they were looking for experience, not necessarily from a basketball perspective but from a business one. It looked like an exciting opportunity and a good way to give something back to the Cairns community.
