On dredging

-

Re: Cairns Port expansion. Your vocal minority is a very loud majority and they want the port modernised. Ports are expanded all over the world. Sediment is treated. Don’t condemn our engineers and economists. No one is going to trash our port. Sam, Bayview We have been on cruises and it has never worried us to use the tender to come into port. So leave the harbour alone, no reason to dredge it. All we seem to talk about up here is the tourist dollar. Wendy, Innisfail CP (16/2). So a cruise ship, stopping off Yorkeys Knob, supposedly carrying 2500 passengers, are all going to disembark and spend $200 each, according to Ron Crew, a pro-dredging proponent. Allowing that all meals and drinks are free on the ship, give us a break, please. Local, Cairns.
