Trump appeals
HONOLULU: President Donald Trump’s administration is appealing a Hawaii federal judge’s latest ruling blocking his revised travel ban. Government lawyers have appealed to the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals. It comes a day after US District Judge Derrick Watson issued a longer-lasting hold on key provisions of Trump’s executive order. Hawaii Attorney General Douglas Chin says he expected the government to appeal.
Super spud grows
LIMA: Scientists in Peru have used a simulator that mimics the harsh conditions on Mars to successfully grow a small potato plant. It’s an experiment straight out of the 2015 Hollywood movie “The Martian” that scientists say may also benefit arid regions around the world already feeling the impact of climate change.
Single shot
LONDON: Westminster terror attacker Khalid Masood was killed by a single gunshot to his chest, an inquest has heard. Masood, 52, was shot dead by an armed police officer after gaining access to the Palace of Westminster grounds during his March 22 attack in the heart of London.

Man dies after fall
BANGKOK: AN Australian man has died after reportedly jumping from the fourth floor of Bangkok’s international airport. Surveillance footage showed Alan Paul Grimes, 32, jumping after reaching the first floor. He was rushed to Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8.06am on Thursday evening.
Venetian threat
VENICE: Extremists allegedly plotting to blow up Venice’s famed Rialto Bridge were caught on phone taps saying the outrage would send them “straight to heaven”. Italian police arrested three Kosovans in Venice suspected of plotting terror attacks, as well as a minor. The phone taps also captured the Kosovans praising the recent attack in London.
Recycled rocket
CAPE CANAVERAL: A space travel company founded by Tesla’s Elon Musk has launched its first recycled rocket. SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket blasted off from Florida’s Kennedy Space Centre on Thursday evening on the historic re-flight. The launch is the biggest leap yet in the company’s bid to drive down costs and speed up flights.The rocket initially landed on an ocean platform a year ago.
