PYRAMID Power takes another step towards entering the AFL Cairns big time next year with the first seniors match to be held at their Power Park today.

Through the Power’s partnership with Cairns City Lions, Power will tackle North Cairns’ reserves today before Lions face the Tigers in the seniors, the first time the highest level of football in the Far North will be played at the venue.

The hosting of the first senior game at Power Park at Gordonvale is a leap forward for the club as they aim to play seniors as soon as next year.

Pyramid Power president and coach Jim Floyd said the club had been abuzz this week ahead of the inaugural game at the ground.

“We need to prepare well and tick all the boxes to make sure everything is up to standard at the ground,” Floyd said.

“I am pretty sure we have done everything we can, hopefully it all goes well.

“Hopefully we get a few locals to come down and watch.

“This will be the first senior game around the area.

“Everyone is really looking forward to it.”

City Lions coach Syd Fat- nowna is enjoying the partnership with the Power and is keen to grow the game in Gordonvale.

“I welcome it,” Fatnowna said.

“The Pyramid Power boys have come on board to play under our reserves slot, which is good.

“We will help out wherever we can with them and hopefully they can do the same for us.”
