WHOLE HOST OF FACTORS IN PLAY TO BE A NANNY

-

EDUCATION

Those considering a career as a nanny do not necessarily need formal qualifications. Often experience babysitting for friends or acquaintances, a blue card and a genuine love of children is all that is required by nanny organisations.

But increasing demand for nannies means more parents prefer those with a certificate or diploma in early childhood studies, as well as first-aid qualifications.

MORE TRAINING

Some nannies choose to undertake further education via registered training organisations in the areas of child development, nutrition, safety, education and psychology.

These may be recognised and remunerated in kind, depending on the employing organisation.

The most sought-after personal qualities in a nanny include patience, reliability, punctuality and integrity.

PAY SCALE

Nannies receive between $30,000 and $50,000 per year but pay for this job rises steadily for more experienced workers. Pay can also fluctuate depending on factors such as demand for services and employers.
