NO STONE UNTURNED

-

Q The Marlin Coast Marlins are three rounds back into the Queensland State Netball League after some time away. How have you found it back in the competition as the coach?

A In 2017 Marlins are in the Tier 2 Country pool, we can clearly see from the performance and the results the Marlins we have the talent to perform and to match the other regions in our pool. As a coach I have been pleasantly surprised by the talent and commitment of players to contribute to our success to date. We now have a squad of 16 players including shadow players and they are all committed to our mission statement to bring home State League success.

Q The new model of the Marlins is managed by Cairns Netball Association, has there been any changes to the way it has been run this year?

A The approach from licence holder Cairns Netball Association has been to develop a semi-professional platform for the Marlins players. The players have a support crew of coaching staff, dietitian, physiotherapy, leading fitness experts and access to a vast array of sports specific knowledge from Associate Professor Stephen Bird and Dr Glen Deakin from James Cook University. Not to mention the financial backing from all of the wonderful sponsors. Player welfare has been a top priority including travelling by plane to most destinations. Cairns Netball Association has left no stone unturned.
