Botanists must complete a university degree in biological science in order to gain employment in a lab or research institute. Some biological scientists do not go into research and find careers as park rangers, teachers, tour guides or in other environmental organisations. Botanists study plants to try to understand how they work. Their research is involved in enhancing crops, developing medicines, cleaning up contaminated sites and even fuel for vehicles.
