Hawks set to swoop on Saints

- JORDAN GERRANS

MANUNDA Hawks will fight fire with fire today as they look to topple Cairns Saints at Cazalys Stadium.

The Hawks will have played all four finalists from last season inside the first five rounds of the season as well as beating Cairns City Lions last start.

The Marc Harbrowcoached Hawks were encouraged by their performance in the twilight timeslot against Port Douglas earlier this month and are looking forward to playing night footy again today.

William Aisi and Kerry Williams are back in what Harbrow labelled the strongest Hawks line-up so far in 2017.

“We are going to take Saints on and play Hawks football,” Harbrow said.

“We believe we have the crop to do that and the boys have put in a really solid week of training.

“They are chomping at the bit to play Saints.

“It has taken us four rounds to field our strongest side and we have finally got them all in.

“We want to play our brand of football.”

Saints have had a fortnight without footy after beating Centrals Trinity Beach in Round 3 at Crathern Park.

Key forward Jesse Dixon will return for Saints.

Lions travel to Power Park as they try to get their first win of the season against Centrals Trinity Beach from 3pm.
