Learner charged

A LEARNER driver allegedly caught almost four times the legal limit will appear in a Cairns court next month. The 33-year-old Manoora woman allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.19 per cent when she was stopped near Harvey Creek at Bellenden Ker about 6am on Thursday. She was charged with one count each of driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of liquor or a drug, driving unaccompanied on a learner permit and failing to display ‘L’ plates. The woman is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on May 5.
