LIVING THE $10 MILLION DREAM

-

MOST Queenslanders believe they need $10 million to be able to quit work and retire early.

The Golden Casket survey by ReachTEL also finds more than a quarter of people (26 per cent) cite $10 million as the key dollar figure at which they would be able to realise their dreams.

Golden Casket spokesman Matt Hart says being debt free and financially secure was the driving force of how money could make them happy.

“So perhaps Queenslanders have made a correlation between realising their dreams and quitting their jobs,” he says.

Compared to their interstate counterparts, however, Queenslanders have lesser financial demands, as the state had the lowest proportion of people citing $10 million as the key to realising their dreams than other states.

In Victoria, 38 per cent of people needed the big windfall, in NSW 28.6 per cent, and in South Australia 33.1 per cent .

Instead, a greater proportion of people in Queensland (22.6 per cent) than in other states believed $8 million would be enough for them to be happy.

About one in five respondents reported $1 million would be enough for them to realise their dreams.
