Shunned by Seal but Nashville awaits

- KRISTY SYMONDS

MACKAY teenager Heath Milner is getting his promised golden ticket.

The 17-year-old country singer didn’t turn a single chair during his blind audition on The Voice this week but British pop star Boy George has made good on his promise to send the young hopeful to Nashville.

News Corp can reveal Boy George’s management reached out to the Queenslander after the showstopping episode of the Channel 9 reality series aired on Monday night, to finalise arrangements to send him to the country capital of the world.

“He ( Boy George) seems like a true and honest man and so does his manager,” Milner said.

While coach Seal told Milner he “wasn’t special enough” after he performed Garth Brooks’s Much Too Young, Boy George stepped in to disagree, telling him he was “the real deal” and claiming he would pay to send him to Nashville.

“I pretty much was ready to have a heart attack. My mind went blank and my body went into shock,” Milner said.

While Boy George and much of the Australian public leapt to Milner’s defence, the musician said he wasn’t bothered by Seal’s comments – or the fact he didn’t turn a chair.

“One of the best pieces of advice I have ever been given is listen to everyone but don’t take everyone’s advice.”
