Fury can’t carry on to surface

- JACOB GRAMS

FURIOUS Northern Fury have had plenty to whinge about over the past fortnight but playing at Barlow Park tomorrow should not be one of them.

The visitors have complained about being scheduled for three games in seven days last month, then complained when one due to be against the Roar Youth was postponed despite half the opponents playing in Thailand in that week.

FNQ Heat coach Tim Campbell said it was each team’s prerogative to find whatever motivation they could but was all for it if negativity took over.

“They’ll use whatever motivation they will to try to turn us over, and if it’s lining up a few gripes and grumbles they’ve got, good luck to them,” he said.

“We’ve all got them in regional football.

“It’s difficult, southeast corner is where the football is, so we do seem to get a more difficult task than others.

“We do have enough to whinge about but we do try to be positive as well.”

Campbell said as long as their complaining doesn’t extend to Barlow Park, he’ll let them go about their business.

“If anyone complains about playing football at Barlow Park, then they need to find a different sport,” he said.

“That’s the best surface in the league, best facilities in the league, so I’m sure they'll be looking forward to coming up here and playing on that.

“It will still be a long journey for them as it was for us going down to Ingham. It’s a four-hour bus journey there and back.

“It’s difficult but teams can use that as motivation, something to focus on to try to give us the edge.”
