On climate change Steve Turton (letters 22/6). You’re too late. Senior US climate alarmists Ben Santer and Michael Mann just released a paper back-pedalling on the scares and admitting their models are wrong. Higgs, Tolga Julian Tomlinson’s editorial (CP 22/6) was spot-on. Why do people still believe the evidence-free, anti-people alarmism being pushed by the greens? Peter, Redlynch As every geologist knows the corals have survived hot periods in the past long before humans came along. Rob Ryan, Caravonica Geoff Holland (letters, 23/6) highlights the widening gap between greenies and reality. If the Reef is 99 per cent dead why do the Reef boats bother going out? Woz, Parramatta Park On live music shutdown I am shocked to read about the Bungalow Hotel having to stop their once a week music evening. What sort of person would whinge about such good music which stops at 10.30pm? Beverley, Atherton Barbary Coasters at Bungalow Hotel shut down on Fridays at 10.30pm. Tanks Art Centre. Same thing. Did the neighbours all sign a petition or was it just one or two? Neither venue has a nursing home next door. In fact, both venues have very few neighbours. How about lifting Cairns out of the 14th century. IG, Edge Hill Cairns live music canned. Must be to protect the Reef. Chris, Bungalow On bike riders Scotty (23/6). It’s too dangerous for Lycra-clad cyclists on any road used by motorised vehicles. Maybe one day they’ll realise this and get off them. Bill, Mooroobool Why is it that bicycle riders never stop at the stop sign at the Red Beret intersection? Above the law, I suppose. Steve, Redlynch On other matters Origin. Why are the Blues such sore losers? Surely, they would be used to it by now. Suzie, Woree If the works for the convention centre are going ahead regardless, why waste a million on a business case? Peter, Bayview Heights Mic, Cairns (23/6). If renewable energy is just about free subsidies, why not also accuse Adani coal of same thing. $1 billion from the feds and $300 million from Queensland. All taxpayers money, so the same thing. Terry, Kanimbla If you want to stuff up any place, just open it up to mining and tourism. Both are just as bad as each other Shane, Edmonton To the nurses and doctors at the Cairns Hospital, especially in ICU, high dependency and southern wing. You are amazing angels. So much more I want to say and name you all for looking after my beautiful dad. From the bottom of my heart ... thank you kind people. Kim, FNQ
